Luxid's Priska Sarvikas loves to challenge herself. It's what makes her heart beat just that little bit faster. "I get so much energy from improving myself," says Priska. "Especially when I reach my goals or really notice progress. And when I get better at something I celebrate—even the little wins."
Priska grew up in Saarijärvi in the center of Finland and is currently studying business administration at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, with human resources and leadership as her orientation. She joined Luxid as an HR Trainee on an internship.
"I had been sending internship applications all winter, not losing faith because that's not me, but getting a bit unmotivated," explains Priska. "Then late one Sunday evening I stumbled upon Luxid's open positions and saw HR trainee. I read the posting and honestly felt more inspired than I had in weeks—it conveyed Luxid's culture perfectly and I felt so strongly that it was where I wanted to do my internship."
Having a positive outlook on life is clearly Priska's superpower. She says she has faith that things will work out and that if something goes wrong it's because it's going to be replaced by something better. "Rejection is redirection—that's my motto," asserts Priska.
And it's with this super positive attitude that Priska is now getting the most out of her time at Luxid. She assists the HR team with whatever tasks need to be done and is already taking on responsibilities and working independently. "Right now, I'm assembling the upcoming employee pulse survey that will be out later this autumn," says Priska. "I've learned to use a completely new tool and that has been fun."
Even though Priska is only just starting out in her work life, the Luxid value that she most relates to is Trailblazing. She says it sums up how she wants her work life to feel and that 'progressive', 'curious' and 'fun' are all words that inspire her in life.
"I try to take every learning opportunity I can," says Priska. "I work hard but try to stay stress-free. For me, it's about progressing and having fun, even when tasks are difficult."
Being creative is important for Priska. She says she's really inspired by the creativity of her friends, particularly those who are unapologetically themselves: "The coolest thing about them is that they all have their own passions they are actively pursuing in life."
"Recently I've felt really passionate about my creative hobbies. I love to knit, and my head has been bursting with so many ideas for projects—I don't think I can finish them in this lifetime."
Like many of her fellow Luxidians, Priska appreciates the simple and quiet life. For her this is all about cooking delicious, healthy food, going for a long walk or maybe doing a yoga class.
I love traveling to foreign countries, but my absolute favorite holiday destination is my family's summer cottage in Savonlinna," says Priska. "There's no running water or electricity other than small solar panels, so you have to do tasks 'manually'. Staying there always makes me feel so grounded."
When asked if she could make one change in the world, Priska's answer might surprise you. "I think I would go back to a time when smartphones and social media didn't exist. It's really scary how easily you can live your life through a screen without being truly present. Everything felt more real back then."
If, like Priska, you are super motivated and want to do an internship in an inspiring, creative environment where you get real hands-on experience, then Luxid could be just the place for you. Everything you need to know about careers at Luxid can be found here.
